Our Story
A drink rooted in tradition, made to be savoured.
The Food Store is a founder-led beverage business based in Durham Region, Ontario. Its story begins with Zobo, a ruby-red hibiscus drink with deep roots in Nigerian and West African food culture.
Zobo is the kind of drink that belongs at the table: refreshing alongside a meal, welcome at a gathering, and easy to share with family, friends, and community. The Food Store brings this familiar favourite to more tables in convenient 500 ml bottles, with a focus on clear flavour, thoughtful preparation, and quality.
Rooted in Nigerian food culture
Hibiscus gives Zobo its distinctive colour and tang. That bright, tart base is the starting point for our two current flavours: Original Pineapple, with tropical fruit sweetness, and Ginger Apple, with mellow apple and a lively ginger finish. Both are made to be enjoyed chilled.
A thoughtful approach
The Food Store is built and led by its founder in Durham Region. A Bachelor of Science in Microbiology brings a careful, detail-focused perspective to the work behind the brand and its products.
Our guiding idea is simple: make a refreshing drink with care and invite you to slow down and enjoy it—on your own or in good company.
Packaging that lets the drink shine
We chose a clear, can-shaped PET bottle so you can see Zobo’s rich ruby colour before opening it. Each bottle is sealed with an easy-open aluminum pull-tab lid and topped with a clear plastic cover. The cover helps protect the top before opening and can be placed back over it afterward, keeping the opening covered if you don’t finish the drink at once and need to carry it with you. The format is convenient to chill, pour, and share, while the label identifies the flavour and provides ingredient and storage information.
Prepared in an approved kitchen
Our Zobo is prepared in a kitchen approved by Durham Region Public Health. We take food handling seriously and provide ingredient and storage details on each bottle. Please follow the instructions printed on the label.
